About Me
The short version: I work with networks, I have a developed a homelab addiction, and I am a dad of twins.
The Longer Version
Hey, I am Ruben. I have been doing IT stuff for over a decade now, with the last five years focused on networking. That means I spend my days working with routers, switches, firewalls, and occasionally yelling at DNS x).
I genuinely enjoy what I do. There is something satisfying about building networks that just work, and even more satisfying when you can automate away the boring parts. Python and Ansible have become good friends of mine.
Outside of work, I run a homelab where I experiment with things I probably should not touch in production. It is a great way to learn and an even better way to break things at 1 AM on a Saturday.
When i am not staring in to a terminal, I am probably playing poker (I like the strategy side of it), attempting to play tennis, or being completely exhausted by my twins. They are amazing, but man, two at once is no joke.
This site is just a little corner of the internet where I try to write about tech stuff that interests me. just notes from someone who likes tinkering with things.
What I Work With
Networking
Cisco, Fortinet, Aruba, SD-WAN, BGP, OSPF — the usual suspects.
Automation
Python, Ansible, and slowly getting into Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
Security
Firewalls, VPNs, Zero Trust concepts. Keeping the bad stuff out.
Cloud & Virtualization
AWS, Azure, Docker, Proxmox. A bit of everything.
